I WON!!!!!!!! - And, New McCall's!

I'm so over-the-moon excited y'all! I am the proud, proud first place winner of the Beginner Fitted Blouse contest!!!

Check out the winners for the Intermediate and Advanced contest here:

PR Fitted Blouse Contest Winners

And check out the gallery too! There were some amazing entries! This and the mini-wardrobe contest are my favorites on PR. I love to see what turns up.

I win the fabulousness that is a pair of straight and pinked shears from Gingher and a lovely French curve! All courtesy of Fabric Place Basement!

New Patterns

Of course, lots of dresses here...and I feel the same about this release as the Vogue. Gorgeous offerings; dresses are awesome; dresses are not conducive to my everyday life, I am less enthused about them :)

But there are 3 patterns on my must have list
M6961M6961
This top is EVERYTHING. Swoooooon! The view with flutter sleeves isn't quite for me but still, SO feminine and pretty!

M6956
Ok, yes it IS a dress...but it's a SWEETHEART dress with a fit & flare and...yeah! :)

Ok jumpsuits seem to be love 'em or hate 'em but...I like the pants versions. Especially this view, belted.

I also like:

Nice options here

Line Art
A solid basic (and it's a Palmer Pletsch!)

I hate this on the model; the top is oversized but the skirt is cute...I bet the shorts would be too.

There are some cute kids patterns (or rather girls patterns), a rather sad men's offering, and some crafts. Oh, there's a bag pattern too!

  2. Congrats!!! I am so glad you won!! You are really skilled. I am a beginner and i really do not have as much of a talent as you. I've only made a dress, two skirts, sweats, bag, and two bagpack( and i am also making two more backpacks pair of pj pants). You have really inspired me to sew more and try new things. It's cool to see what you make for your daughter, cause i am 15 and it makes me think of other things that i can make for myself. Continue the amazing work!

  3. Congrats! You did a beautiful job on your blouse!

I have a weird not-hating-it like of that jumpsuit, as well--it seems to be a little more practical (if a jumpsuit can be practical) and offers a little more coverage than the jumpsuit patterns I've seen in the last couple of years. Not sure I could pull it off though--although it might make for a humorous blog entry.

I always have to look through them 2 or 3 times to hone in on details that I like or find interesting.

  10. Yaaaaaaaaah! COngrats! I voted for you :)
And I secretly really want to make the shorts romper/jumpsuit thing (whatever it's called).. I think I might be too old or something for that. But after a second look at the new patterns (I was a little bored by them at first) I realize I like them so much more... so many wearable things! I might be picking up a couple at the next $ sale too.

  14. Yay! I'm so glad you won! I voted for you also, and wish I could have voted for you more than once, because your shirt is just that good. I hope you are wearing it often!

You have some nice picks from the Mccall's summer line. I didn't see much, but looked over a few good pieces you picked out.

  15. Congratulations!! That's so awesome and such a boost to your sew-jo I'm sure!

Confession: I'm working on a vintage jumpsuit pattern right now...it might be a disaster but I have to know one way or the other!

  17. Congratulations! Your shirt is awesome and I am not surprised. I have been pretty bad about the contests. I ended up not finishing two contests so far this year so I'm taking a break until I catch up.

It looks like you found a few more patterns to like than I did.

  22. Congrats girlie. I voted for you, too. You came full circle with that pattern and deserved the win.

Count me in the "hate 'em" group on jumpsuits. I gave up onesies when I was one year old. =)
