Progress

The contest ends Monday! I've spent probably 50% of the time sewing...unpicking. I have to make myself learn to use my walking foot. Shhhhh.

I cannot topstitch my cuffs. I keep getting near the end and having a bubble of fabric. So today I am going to break out the walking foot.

Loving the shirt so far! Need to finish up the other sleeve, set it (last night I sewed AND serged it inside out!). Then do hemming and buttons/buttonholes.

  1. I hope you make the deadline! It seems I sew better with deadlines, maybe that will hold true for you. The shirt is really nice so far.

  6. It's looking good, even with all the frustrations. Yes, sometimes it is worth the small amount of time needed to change things, even though it is a pain. I've had to learn that lesson too - then I have to relearn it all over again when I skip steps.

  9. I love the stripes. The walking foot is pretty easy once you get used to the scary look. I'm impressed at your perseverance. I decided that I would let this contest go. Too many things going on and I don't really need a fitted shirt this moment. I really like the stripes.

  12. Pfaff have built in their walking foot & call it dual feel instead.

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

I use it almost constantly & get grumpy when I can't.

    Your shirt is awesome.

  13. Oh this is going to be a fantastic shirt... Proud your working out the problems [ I too, tend to try to do it myself, without changing out the feet,ha]. can't wait to see it finished. Happy sewing.

  14. I do so much unpicking it's crazy! To help avoid the bubble, I often hold the fabric quite taut in the front and the back as it's going under the foot. I do this because I generally make shirts on my singer featherweight rather than using a walking foot. It does work though!
